All grown up

Image
I was looking for pictures on my i-photo of the Mayflower and came across pictures from a few years back.  And I was thinking how fast everyone is growing up.  While I love having older kids, especially soon to be 14 year olds, I do miss the sweet, chubby cheeked little kids.  We only got a digital camera in....ummmm 03 I think, so they are not that old, but still younger than now.  Someday I will figure out how to move my scanned pictures from my finder window into i-photo and will be able to add even cuter little babies to the album.  So here are a few of my favorites.

Really? Can you be 50?

Tonight was Jennifer's 50th birthday party.  As  usual there was lots of great food, including the home made chips I love.  I ate way too much.  And we played super fun games.  It was very fun, but I still can't hardly believe she is 50.  I was at her 30th, and while it doesn't feel like yesterday, it doesn't seem like 20 years ago.  Wow.  I'm just glad she is so much older than I.   Of course having a good friend that is 50 is not as bad as being married to someone who is 50. Although for someone who is 50, the man does pretty good.  I have more stiff joints than he does. And all his energy really puts me to shame.  But the 50th party was a good excuse to have a country dance instructor come out. Good times!

Volleyball

Image
Volleyball has become so frustrating to me lately.  The girls have so much potential, but they just don't seem to be focused and try very hard.  Not all of the girls.  I have been pleased how most of the girls have really improved since last year.  And twin 2 has become very good.  (Thanks Grandma for the volleyball camp.) But tonight we just watched the other team score 10 pts in a row because the girls couldn't pass the ball inside the court.  I will try not to take it so seriously, but some of the girls really want to do better and win some games.   Of course having the big guy at the game doesn't help.  He seems to think that all you have to do is tell the girls what to do, and they will magically be able to do it terrifically 100% of the time.  Here's to hoping the big girls make the 9th grade team next year.

Makeover night

Tonight at enrichment  I was chosen to get a "makeover".  It included a haircut and make-up.  My hair had gotten very long, and I was so ready to get it cut.  I don't think I would have gone so short normally, but the whole excitement of the evening made me feel a little daring and giddy.  So here I am.  Way short hair, blown straight, and wearing makeup.  Now I'm home, Scott is at work and won't see the new me until I've slept all night.  I'm betting on him not even noticing until 4 minutes have passed.  The boy says he can't take me seriously with my hair flipping up on the sides.  Whatever.
