The Best Month

So April has always been one of my favorite months.   OK, so it is my birthday month, but this year there has been a different reason why I love April.  Visitors!  Out of the past 28 days, we have had visitors for 17 days.  First, I brought Mom over to see Isabell's play and be here for her 79th brithday party.  Then,  Joanie came from Durango for Mom's birthday party.  Kathy, John, Josh and Hannah came for the party from San Diego.  Matt and Rachel drove down from Idaho for the big party.  Then Mom, Matt and Rachel left and the Rennie's came from Cape Cod.  After 6 days the Mendenhall's left.  Then Matt and Rachel came back the following weekend.  The Rennie's left on Sunday and the younger Mendenhalls left on Monday.  Ten days of quiet before Susie came for 5 days.  

I love company.  We took the Mendenhalls riding and had so much fun.  Josh held on when his horse took off.  Way to go.   Everyone loved Isabell's play.  Matt and Rachel love to play games! We played Signs for hours.  I also took Sue for a horse ride (Thanks Cory).   

All in all, the house has survived a large influx of people and I somehow got away without cooking more than just 2 or 3 meals.  So now you know our house is open.  As long as you don't mind a dog or cat possibly laying on your bed, or fending for yourself in the kitchen you are welcome anytime.  We'll just expect you to play a game or two of Signs.

April is a great month! I'm glad you guys could come down for JoAnn's graduation, we had fun with Amelia at the Scandinavian Festival, hope she had fun, too!

A near death experience

Yes, it is just as it sounds. Mom and I were watching tv tonight after dinner. Becky had just called to see how mom was doing when all of a sudden Mom seemed be having a seizure. Her eyes were fixed on the ceiling and she didn't respond to me at all. I was calling her name, yelling for Scott and tried to calmly tell Becky I would call her right back. I know this is coming, but I wasn't ready for it right then, not so sudden. As we wheeled her to the bedroom and laid her on the bed, I was sure she was going. Even Scott said it looked like she was leaving us. Her sweet face was so white. But once we got her in bed she responded better. I tucked her in and just rubbed her for awhile. She was able to say a few words, and she started crying. I, of course, was already sobbing. Now that I have had a trial run, I will try to be more calm when she goes. Sundance: movies, music and more

I am home after the last weekend at Sundance and saw a few more good movies.  I'll add them to the list.    I had a great time talking movies with so many people.  Sue, Carly and I have been having a great time.   I spent the first few nights up there just hanging out with them, since I didn't actually have to work until late Sunday night.   So here are a few of my favorite movies.......so far: Prom Night in Mississippi- a documentary about a school in Miss. that still has segregated proms.  Morgan Freeman offered to pay for the prom if they would have just one.  Who would have thought that 1 1/2 hours of listening to high schoolers talk could be so entertaining.  I really liked it. Rough Aunties - a documentary about a group of women in South Africa that work for a nonprofit organization that counsels sexually abused children and works to bring their abusers to justice.  But mostly it was a film how these women strengthen and support each other in tragic situations.  And two

Off to the MTC with Elder Nicolas Lockhart

This has been a wonderful week with the Lockharts here. Tuesday Sue, Clint, Nick and I went up to Salt Lake to the Draper Temple Open House. Nick has wanted to go in to as many temples as he could before he leaves on his mission, so we took in that one as well. It is a beautiful building, of course. Most notable was the chandelier in the celestial room. Wow! We called Mom to tell her we were on our way to pick her up, but she was back to sleep and still in bed. She was up and ready quickly and we hurried to the Salt Lake Temple for the 2:00 session. Here's a little something to remember, Mom doesn't need to go to the temple anymore. She couldn't remember any names, even hers. All she managed to pay attention to was Nick. "Oh, there's that cute Nick. He's such a great young man." True enough, but she kept saying it over and over, and over and over. She paid absolutely no attention to the session at all. She wasn't even bothered by not being able to rem
